Summer Quote of the Day

A perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken. ~James Dent

Now offering Premade Page Elements

After a few years of prodding from my husband Scrapbooking Buddies has decided to offer PreMade Elements for your pages.

These are perfect for Scrpabookers who don't have as much time as they would like to commit to scrapbooking but still like creating their own pages.

We thought it was time to find that happy medium between scrapbooking from scratch and using premade pages.

A wonderful way to add that handmade element to your pages that you just do not have time to make yourself.

Now offering Custom Titles

How frustrating is it when you go to buy something with your child's name on it and it's not spelled "your" way???

Having one of those "weird spelling" (not really but manufacturers seem to think so) I never had anything with my name on it so I started making my own titles & names.

Since not everyone can afford to purchase a cutting machine, we decided to start offering custom cuts.

Each title is cut from Bazzill cardstock and is matted on a coordinating color.

Below are some samples but we are happy to accommodate any special requests just email scrapbookingbuddies@gmail.com

Fathers Day Quote(poem) of the Day

Roses grow in Heaven, Lord, pick a bunch for me
Place them in my dad's arms & tell him they're from me
Tell him that I love & miss him & when he turns to smile
place a kiss upon his cheek & hold him for a while
Because remembering him is easy
I do it everyday
There's an ache within my heart that will never go away.

Pre K, Kindergarten Graduation... Quote of the Day

Do you remember last fall?
I was only this tall
Now look at me I am way up here
and my I've learned a lot this year.
In fact they think I'm really great,
... that's why I get to graduate!

My cutter won't cut or my punch won't punch...

I was standing in line at Office Max today and saw the Fiskars Small Bypass Trimmer in the basket of the woman behind me. I was thinking I could use one of those. While I do have just about every tool ever made by Fiskars (which is by far my favorite cutter company!) I do not have this trimmer.

The woman noticed I was starring and commented about the items in her basket and I apologized but explained I was thinking about her trimmer. She said "yes they are great but the blades go dull so quickly, this is my 3rd one." I said "have you ever cut aluminum foil with your trimmer?" She looked at me puzzled and said No why?

Which leads me to this post...so many quick tips are taken for granted by seasoned scrappers but what seems like an old idea to some of us is a new bright idea for the new scrappers.

Bypass Trimmers can be sharpened with a sharpening stone or with aluminum foil (not all manufacturers recommend this so it's a use at your own risk fix)

Dull Scissors can be sharpened by a professional service but not all of us have that available to us so again a sharpening stone or aluminum foil may work.

Sticky Punches can be lubricated with beeswax or punching through wax paper (I put a piece of cardstock between 2 pieces of was paper for stability) if your punch is just not cutting through the paper you can try foil

Decorative Scissors can have a short life span depending on the design foil may work but you usually need to replace them

Scrapbooking Buddies

I have scrapbooked for 12 years ... I was instantly addicted.
It was all I did and talked to everyone about. I pushed my hobby on everyone who would listen.
Whenever I went to a baby or wedding shower I gave Scrapbooking Supplies as the gift. I wanted my friends and family to scrap with me. I pushed it on my best friend...no, my sister in laws...no, my sister... uh no!
Of course no one got into it like I was.

Eventually we moved to a new town where I made new friends and got several neighbors into scrapbooking. If my family wouldn't do it I would find other scrapbooking buddies.

I was a stay at home mom and really wanted a store. We couldn't afford a storefront so I started selling supplies on Ebay. I love it and eventually started http://www.scrapbookingbuddies.com/
I couldn't come up with a name for a long time and my sister came up with Scrapbooking Buddies because she knew I love scrapbooking most when it's with my friends.

Life is funny .. it's been a long time since I started this hobby and you know each one of the people I gave supplies to (and didn't use them then) now scrapbooks. One of my sister in laws even owns her own store where she makes premade pages for others. My other SIL, several friends, Heck my mother in law even scraps too! Of course I don't live near any of them anymore so I still don't get to scrapbook with them. At least there is cyberspace and I can enjoy their work online.. it makes me feel good to see what they create.
